The awesome game of thrones movie tour of the year
“Game of Thrones has attracted a huge fan base globally with its incredible stories, characters and landscapes. This tour which complements our Games of Thrones Movie Tour of Northern Locations with Giants Causeway visits some of these great landscapes located south of Belfast.” ~ Brit Movie Tours
Game of Thrones, an American fantasy drama television series created by showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The official Game of Thrones site description reads, “Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues. It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men…all play the ‘Game of Thrones.’
Join Brit Movie Tours and other fans of the show on the movie tour which will visit more than 10 locations from Season 1 onwards. Your journey begins by heading into Westeros to your first stop of the day – the spectacular ruins of a 12th century castle that featured in Season 1 as Robb Stark’s camp and where he was proclaimed the King of the North and where Catelyn Stark had to tell Robb that his father was executed at the hands of King Joffrey. You’ll also see the scarred tree that Robb hit repeatedly with his sword on hearing the news of his father’s death.
At the next location of the movie tour, you must pay your last respects to Hoster Tully, the former head of House Tully. Here, you will see the waterside funeral location where Edmure lived up to his reputation, and the Blackfish showed how to fire an arrow with amazing accuracy! At this spot you can see the 19th century castle location that stood in for Riverrun itself.
Then its onto Winterfell itself to see where King Robert Baratheon arrived and was met by Ned Stark during Episode 1 and where they talked during the hunt in Episode 2. Other locations you can visit here include where Bran ‘falls’ from Winterfell Castle, the Archery Range in the Courtyard and where Theon beheads Ser Rodrik. You’ll also see the camp where Robb Stark also hoped to pass through the Twins and where Brienne of Tarth confronted three of Starks soldiers when they recognised Jamie Lannister.
Before you visit the final filming location of the day you will get a chance to see the final resting place of St Patrick – the patron saint of Ireland.
It’s time to escape back to your own world before any more chance of harm befalls you.
