This upscale fare is set amidst one of the largest man-made forests in the world! And, it certainly prides itself with some of the most perfect panoramic views of Johannesburg. About the chef…

Determined to learn the ropes in one of the best restaurants in his home city, Dirk Gieselmann ditched his engineering studies. He thus began an apprenticeship under Uwe Quitter and Maurice de Boer at the former Michelin one-star Restaurant Gala in Aachen, Germany at age 24. His hard work paid off. It took him to Michelin-starred kitchens all over the world! From La Réserve de Beaulieu and Le Negresco in Nice to Tahiti and New York City’s famed Le Cirque.

For the past seven years, Dirk has worked as Chef de Cuisine alongside owner Marc Haeberlin at the famed Michelin three-star Auberge de l’Ill restaurant in Illhauesern in France’s Alsace region.

Dirk joined Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg in 2014 as Executive Chef overseeing it’s five new restaurants. Flames experiences his interpretation on informal outdoor eating with a menu of small bites and classics. And this by using the very best ingredients in an outdoor braai kitchen.
