The roots of Hungary’s vineyards stretch back through the history of the country itself, tracing the tangled path of its triumphs and losses. The session features a selection of the best regional varietals, with complex and full-bodied red wines appearing alongside fresh and aromatic whites, capped by a sample of the sweet nectar of Tokaj itself: a smooth white dessert wine. Although aficionados will be taken by savouring the notes and character of each wine, it is the story behind the casks that sparks the imagination.
In the comfort of Taste Hungary’s tasting room in the centre of Budapest, the class places Hungarian wines in the spotlight, under the guidance of an expert sommelier. This unique wine tasting experience perfectly enhances any itinerary in Context’s comprehensive program and offers chances to explore all corners of the city. From the Jewish quarter and castle district to opulent Art Nouveau buildings and relics of communism. This is the second collaboration between Context and Taste Hungary, following authentic Flavours of Jewish Budapestâ, a guided walk and traditional Jewish meal.

Essentials of Taste Hungary Wines:
Tasting class lasts 2 hours, and is available daily at a cost of HUF 18000 per participant. Tastings are led by a credentialed expert. Context Travel was founded by National Geographic writer Paul Bennett and designer Lani Bevacqua.
